Drug Store Foundation - Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation

So I'm a girl who it pains to drop more than $20 on foundation. I've tried higher end foundations such as Makeup Forever, MAC, Sephora etc. and don't get me wrong, I've gotten along with them just fine. But when it comes to me handing over $40-60, it hurts my insides. At the moment I have my Makeup Forever HD Foundation that is for special occasions, because lets face it. It's pretty darn nice. But for every day wear, there's no way I want to smear that kind of money on my face. Over the years I've gotten to know my skin and what works well with it and what doesn't. I'm a pretty fair skinned lady with a ton of freckles. I have oily/combination skin and find it hard to keep my makeup on through a full day of work let alone go without having to use blotting paper for more than 2 hours. I've have a rough time trying to find an inexpensive option for a foundation. But I've had some success! Here is one of my favourite foundations so far:

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation:

Revlon seems to be a favourite of a lot of people. I don't think I've seen a very negative review for the Colorstay Liquid foundation, so why should this be much different? I have tried both, and I did like the liquid foundation, but I am in LOVE with this whipped formula. Like I said, I've always had a rough time with foundation staying on for more than a few hours. My greasy skin just makes it slide so I always try and look for long lasting things and this really is. I don't think I'd ever want to keep makeup on my skin for 24 hours, so I don't know if that claim is truthful or not, but it is definitely long lasting. I was a little thrown off when I opened the package because I was expecting more of a mousse I think, but its part liquid, part mousse I think. I can turn it upside down without it falling out.. The packaging is a bit bulky. A glass case and a plastic screw on top. Pretty, but unnecessary really. I think it jacks up the price to be honest. I believe I paid around $16, but I'm not 100% sure. But all in all, it blends so beautifully - maybe a tad more work is needed with this thicker foundation, but it feels so light and fluffy on my skin with medium to full coverage, defiantly buildable. Like air on my skin. So lovely.

Pantene ProV BB Hair Cream

The BB cream wagon. Have you jumped on it? Most of us have. Everyone seems to be going crazy with the whole BB cream thing (beauty balm/blemish balm). And how could you not? A simple cream to fix all your problems? I have tried a few drugstore BB creams myself and so far they've been a little too goo to be true (except one) so when I saw the commercial for a BB cream for your hair I thought it was a bit ridiculous, but I was also a but excited. In the end curiosity got the best of me, and I had to get it.
Taken off the Pantene website I quote:
"Pantene’s first BB Crème for hair, Ultimate 10 BB Crème is a revolutionary multi-tasker to be used on wet or dry hair—for a flawless, healthy-looking finish. Dare to get 10 solutions in 1 easy step.

• Repair for Rough Hair
• Strength Against Damage
• Silky Softness
• Brilliant Shine
• Smoothing
• Moisture
• Frizz Control
• Heat Protection
• Manageability
• Tamed Flyaways"

First off I'm going to comment on the packaging. It's pretty typical for a Pantene product. Sleek cylinder container with a nice looking pump and a cap. There's 151mL (5.1 FL OZ), so a decent amount of product and depending on your hair length, the recommended amount is 1-2 pumps. The product comes out nice and controlled. There's no spitting from the pump, or blockage which is great. It has the signature Pantene smell that you'd expect if you've ever smelt any of their other products. Quite pleasant, but not overwhelming. The texture is surprisingly nice too. I expected it to be sticky or tacky but it was more like a lotion. It wasn't ridiculously runny so when I had some on my hand I didn't have to work super fast before it ran off my hands. I ran it through my hair using my fingers like a comb, and concentrating it on the end of my hair, and it didn't feel greasy or heavy. It felt, and smelt quite nice. As though I didn't have anything extra in my hair. I went to bed after letting it soak in a bit, and when I woke up, boy, was I happy! My hair was so soft and so shiny. I don't know if it made my split ends any better, but it did make me hair feel, and look amazing. Who would have thought!? I'd always heard not so good things about Pantene, but this BB hair cream has made me think twice. I honestly love this product so much. Such a transformation on my dry, over processed hair. I didn't think anything would fix this mess after how much I've put it through. And trust me, it's been through a lot. To the point I don't even know my natural hair colour. So all in all, this is a big thumbs up for me. And I believe it was around $12 at my local drugstore. A little pricey, but so worth it in my opinion. If your hair is suffering, it can't hurt to give it a try!

Quo Blending Sponge Review

So I was wandering around my local Shopper Drus Mart and I spotted this dupe for the Beauty Blender and I had to try it. For $4.99 CAD how could I go wrong!? Plus I had just recently lost my actual Beauty Blender when I was traveling sadly and I couldn't bring myself to go out and spend the $26 CAD at Sephora.
As I'm sure most of you already know, this, like the Beauty blender is a sponge used mostly for liquid product such as foundation and concealers, and the Quo Blending Sponge is no different. Simply run it under water, spritz it with water, whatever you choose to dampen it, and then squeeze out the excess and it's ready to go.
The Quo Sponge is, in my opinion, a bit more stiff than the Beauty Blender, which also means it tends to hold on to a bit more product, but not to the extent that you feel like you're wasting your foundation/concealer. The shape is also a bit different, but I prefer the Quo Sponge actually. It has a nice pointed tip to get in any awkward and hard to reach areas, then it tapers in a bit which is so nice to keep a firm hold on the sponge, and then it expands into a rounded bottom to cover a larger area. The Quo Sponge is roughly the same size as the Beauty Blender, perhaps a bit larger
Overall, this is a fanatastic dupe for the Beauty Blender. It gives the same flawless finish, as the the Beauty Blender and really, you can't beat the price of this! Love it.

Hollar

Hello everybody! I'm new to Blogspot, but not new to the world of blogging. I'm going to start off explaining why I started this bad boy. First off, I've been in love with makeup since a little lady, and now being 22 I have learned a lot, tried thousands of products and made countless mistakes. I have cruised the internet and come across many amazing beauty blogs, but many are USA based, and I reside in Canada, so it can be difficult to get what everyone is talking about! Hopefully this will turn into an imformative beauty blog for everyone with tons of reviews, tips, ideas and tons more!
